A story of inspiration….. #Sam

image

Thinking about getting ready for a sports dinner for tonight, getting our glad rags on, long dresses, black tie the works.
Feeling excited, spending time with my family and friends, but there is a serious note behind all the joy and laughter.

Just 18 months ago, a friend, a very inspirational, beautiful young man the same age as my son lost his battle with a brain tumour, that he’d been fighting for near on five years.
His strength, his determination was unbelievable, he taught everyone who knew him many lessons…..
He was just 16 years of age but what he achieved in that time was unquestionable…
His parents are the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure to know, I’m proud and honoured to be their friends.
They have shown only courage in the face of such adversity.

Tonight is a fund raising event for the Sam white legacy and memorial

His parents have continued with fund raising without question and are helping with research and financially supporting other young people and their families………

This song is a tribute to Sam he will be in my heart forever and tonight when I’m laughing, dancing, drinking he’ll be never far from all our thoughts.

He had a smile of gold, he is a legend in our town here in the UK….
So please let’s help other young people to fight teenage cancers, let’s support his legacy because that was his wish for fundraising to carry-on…..

Thanks

Skin Deep ~ Mandy Moran

Not one of us can say we haven’t felt envy or jealously in our life’s at one time or another, both emotions are constraining and dreadfully destructive to our whole being…..

image

If we try and invisage jealously in our minds or actually had to draw or paint it, ugly would come to mind, a destructive monstrasty of a masterpiece would be created!

Understanding jealously vs envy!

Firstly to try and combat these negative soul crushing feelings we have to understand them, people do get them confused with each other , when actually they are different even though they do often appear together and produce similar reactions……

image

            Envy!

This emotion is associated with you being  envious of what someone else has or may look like, its a desire to have that for yourself.
It involves just two people and usually is focused around someone similar to yourself maybe a work…

Mirror reflection!

image

Photograph by “Amanda Richards” Flickr

When you look in your mirror of reflection,
What do you see?
Is it a true reflection of what you perceive yourself to be?

The raindrops translucent form reflects without thought,
What do we see?
Beauty, exquisite and still.

Reflection is like a story being told,
Split second thoughts of our mirrored image,
Be like natures prism of light….

Ultra violet, aqua and azure hitting its target,
Reflectingly divine and illumines..
Let’s illuminate our minds on reflection.

Our minds can reflect in colour,
Rainbow drops will fall once escaped,
Capture that positive thought shower..

The texture of reflection is smooth,
Its cold like a marble too
We can help the world with reflection,

So let’s make tomorrow assured,
For soon the sun will be reflecting,
How wonderfully special we are….

Losing her…….

image Photograph by “kees Straver” Flickr

The snowdrops were blooming in the garden, a few less this year though, really that just signified the whole sadness of the situation.

Still their beauty and unambiguous form was unmistakable and their presence did once give hope for better things to come…..

She loved the birds, their songs of grace and allure, fascinating her mind still with memories because sound evoked thoughts in her mind whilst all around was losing her day by day….

A tiny mouse ran from under the bird house she laughed and smiled and just for a split second I saw her again. With the weak late Winter sun cascading around the now bare flower beds it made me think of times gone by, painful to remember of happier times, fun, laughter and normality!!

If only we could turn back time just for one day….. To tell her I love her, to tell her what a wonderful job she has done, how much she is needed still, though is now unspeakably, now its all too late……

Inside she went with crochet hook and wool in hand in that world only she now inhabits, memories held from times even before my existence I fear..

“Have you seen my bracelet, I’m sure someone has taken it” she exclaimed in anguish tones.

“No one reaaaallly…… I mean no I  haven’t sorry mum, maybe its in your bedroom”

Remembering to not get her upset because in her world now, people regularly visit and take things from her home. It pays to agree for with disagreement only comes mood swings and even worse problems……

Keeping memories from flowing today seems hard, the flood gates of moments lost can’t open not when she needs stability and care. Anger usually follows but today feels different, feels like a sadness is taking me under because its apparent, oh so apparent I’m losing her, no I scream inside but deep within, my realisation can’t hide anymore, times lost are now but in body she is here….

I’m losing her…….

Another snippet of the cruel disease that’s Alzheimer’s. I’m seriously thinking of writing a book based on my experiences.

Eyes to the soul….

image

Photograph by “Bahman Farzad” Flickr

Deep into her eyes you stare,
The gateway to her soul,
Will it show her true emotion,
Can you be sure of her honest intention.

Deep into her soul you glare,
Feeling her raw essence of meaning,
Can you look away from that mesmerising gaze,
Of a fascinating spirit….

Deep into her energy field you focus
Beyond the enchanted world of human,
Into a unique realm of wonder,
Varying colours  of reflective beauty….

Deeper you travel thorough your observe,
Will the eyes hold a secret,
Of whom we really are within,
Polished allure of all existence…

Five reasons to be thankful!

image

Photograph by “Gary Neave” Flickr

Today was beautiful, sunny almost Spring like, the days are getting longer, the long awaited warmer days are soon to arrive.
I have my favourite flowers out in the garden “snowdrops” always a sure sign Springs only around the corner….

There are possibly a few random people who love the Winter but I can honestly say I long for March and the changing of the clocks here in the UK, meaning lighter nights and mornings…
Its a true fact that people do suffer with SAD ~

Seasonal affective (or mood) disorder (SAD) is a type of depression with a seasonal pattern, occurring at the same time each year, most commonly in winter.

Link below explains in more detail >>>>

So really its understandable why Winter isn’t many peoples choice of seasons.

We do through despite many struggles or problems in our life’s still have many reasons to be thankful…
Here is a link to my previous blog on being thankful from January, well worth a read >>>>>>>>

Today’s post though is about things we perhaps take for granted and don’t really appreciate.
We are so in ore of today’s technology I sometimes think we forget all the wonderful things discovered many years before that we now take as the norm…..

Think back only 150 years and the people of England were contracting and even dying from diseases related to unclean water. We turn on the tap in the western world and clean drinkable water appears.
So to start my five thankful things I nominate

1. Clean drinking water on tap.

image

2. Having a warm comfortable home.

Again 100 years ago poor people lived in slums filled with disease and misery, we today need to be thankful….

3. Electricity enabling for an easier life…

image

Photograph by “Dondu Small

We forget until a power cut occurs how reliant on electricity we really are….

4. Our prized jewel, the car.

image

Again think how slow life would be paced if we still used horse and carts.

5. Last but no means least, the love of your children and close family and friends. Totally priceless and most definitely priceless.

Be thankful.

From now on think and try and be thankful…..

Life - Happiness & Joy

ATT00004

A friend of mine recently sent me this story in an email. I thought it was well worth sharing.

Perception in Washington, D.C., at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes.  During that time approximately 2,000 people went through the station most of them on their way to work.

After about 3 minutes: a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing.  He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule.

About 4 minutes later:  The violinist received his first dollar.  A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

At 6 minutes:  A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

At 10 minutes:  A 3…

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

"

Must know love and kindness to know joy and happiness.

"

Love conquered all

Lovers drowning in the amorous of sweet kiss, long embrace and
the long dances where love grow like flowers in the Spring.
They know. Love conquered all.

I write down name of friend and family members gone from my life.
I smiled, remembering their laughter, their smiles and being safe in
the warmth of their homes. Safe places for my heart today. They taught me.
Love conquered all. No-one can walk alone and know a happy life.

The wise ancient Poet wrote. “Who can limit love.”
Virgil knew over 2000 year ago. We are nothing without knowing love.

Love can be a riddle. Make us dream of forever than swim in the bitterness
of goodbye. Should we not love?

The solstice of a few days in the safety of…

Calm composure!

image

Photograph by “Joyce” flickr

The calm is translucence.
Opaque, turquoise with a lustred sheen of light,
No ripples in the energy field just still,
Lighten crimson, marbled neon blush,
The perfected element of choice.

If all around was calm,
No torment or confusion of mind,
How composed the veins of thought,
Elegant essence of fragrance of man,
Would breeze on the movement of time.

Let’s capture this fragment of calm,
Pocketed for all our grasp,
On a tide of divine illumination,
For then our calm composure would touch the world,
With it I could feel peace at last…..

Let’s find this tranquil, serene existence

How compassion can change your life…

image

Photograph by “Becky Rhodes Stiller” flickr

Today’s world is full of hatred, anger, evil barbaric acts, greed, power fuelled egotistical mankind and really I worry for where it will all end…..

We have a responsible to our children, grandchildren and future generations of this wonderful planet to ensure its safety and that of the human race…..

This is a little rant from me but seriously if I could change this horrible world of today I surely would.
I’d spread kindness, peace, compassion and forgiveness.
With all of these virtues there would be born happiness and love and harmony would spread with it bringing balance back to the world…..

Random acts of kindness….

All probably a little far fetched with my imagination running away with me again.
We can however change our immediate life’s for the better,
~ Random acts of kindness,
~Showing compassion to our loved ones and people we come into contact with,
~Altogether showing love not hatred and remembering to keep our egos under control.

So I’ve compiled a list of my favorite ways of bringing more compassion to your world.

image

Photograph by ” Charles Hamilton” Flicker

1. Helping someone less fortunate.

They are a growing number of homeless people here in the UK and across the world. Poverty in families is on the increase whilst the richest people become richer….
Greed on the agenda but forget that and concentrate on your actions, have compassion in your heart, show those around you that you do care and by helping someone less fortunate than yourself it will empower you in ways you never thought possible.
A random act of kindness.

2. Tell someone how lovely they are and how grateful you are for their friendship.

We forget to give praise and to have gratitude for what we have. Our life’s can become richer in friendships if we allow people our time and kindness of heart and with this it will return in kind.

3. Smile at a stranger.

I do this often, it opens your heart to maybe that old man or woman that lives alone, hasn’t seen or spoken to anyone in a while. Warm someone’s soul with your act of kindness.

4.Refrain from judgement.

We do all judge at sometime in our life’s, even regularly in some cases.
I actually think we just get into a rut and habit of judging others.
Remember none of us know where our life’s are taking us, so before you judge someone else for their actions, think about your own life first and imagine the hurt if someone did exactly that to you.
Having compassion to others instead would benefit everyone.

Small sample.

These are only a few of the many ways you can practice compassion and all the other great virtues that can change your life and attract these emotions back into your own living.

My mother had many wise sayings and stories, now she has the cruel disease Alzheimer’s, I try regularly to remember what she has taught me and one of the great morals she instilled in me and my siblings is just this ~
The strong should help the weak with kindness and compassion and without judgement”

Let’s try and send our message to others ,we are lucky we have realised what life’s true message is but so many have not.
Spread this tune of wonder and let’s hope for a better future…….
