Is football a tribal phenomena?

image

The air hung with anticaption and I could hardly breath with the wait for that final whistle.

“Yellooows!!!! Yellooows!!!” a man shouted behind me. I echoed his tune and l felt a nervous knot twist harder…..
They have to WIN, “Come on,Come on, please!!!!!”

As he dribbled up the field, running faster, passing to number 7 in the middle, swiftly anticipated and intercepted and ~yeah!!!!! strike straight in the back of the net!!!!!!
“Wow!!!! Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!”  I shouted.
“Off side” screamed the opposing side
“No way, no way” I voiced back.
I could feel the anger rising inside me, the passion I felt for this team was unbelievable, it was almost like life and death.

I twisted my face in rage and shouted back again      “No way, no  f*#@ing way!!!!!”
Suddenly I had turned into a crazed individual, swearing, shouting and probably if need be, willing to start physical aggression…..

Where had all this emotion come from?

The power of football!

I’m incredibly passionate when it comes to football, its not something everyone possibily can associate with, but believe me if you ever get involved with the sport and follow a team regularly its unbelievable…

The downside is that unfortunately it does bring out even in a mere female like myself a tremendous show of aggression when your team is losing or unfairly treated.

What I hear you ask, could possibly be the reasons behind all of this. Its almost expected for young testosterone males to act in this manner, but not a middle aged woman.

image

Football has tribal links!

The zoologist and author “Desmond Morris” wrote the book “The soccer Tribe” back in 1981 and its a description of how football has similarities to primaeval hunting patterns of tribes with their hero players and managers. So maybe all the fuss is just a human instinct and nothing more….
Football is incredibly popular and here to stay and the crowds haven’t really changed, this is an excellent picture from years gone by…….

image

I just leave you with this thought of ~ what will our future ancestors make of all these incredible crowds and images of men in matching kits with numbers on chasing a ball.
Is it that unsimilar to ancient Greece or Roman?

Love or hate the beautiful game, either way its here to stay for the foreseeable future at least….

Are you intuitive?

Gut feelings, hunches, intuitive, intuition, meditation

Definition of intuition………

What is intuition I hear you ask, well its definition in the free dictionary is :

in·tu·i·tion
n.
1. The faculty of knowing or understanding something without reasoning or proof.

2. An impression or insight gained by the use of this faculty: “I had this intuition you would come here just after the rain broke” (Carson McCullers).

In plain terms the knowing of something, a hunch,it can be sometimes thought of as a magical phenomenon but actually intuition is based on our past experiences and knowledge and is basically our subconscious communicating with us.
So perhaps its best not to get things out of context when using your gut feelings well at least with things we aren’t as familiar with but its not as crazy as some will have you think….

image

Using your gut feelings!

I personally use my intuition on a regular bases, its my sixth sense and many times it has proven to be the right decision…..
When meeting someone for the first time we all make those first impression judgements but often looks can decive more than feelings.
Think back to maybe an instance where you take a different route home and discover later you missed a dreadful accident, or even an erge to ring someone and then discovering they are unwell or were in need of your help. These experiences are all when you have used your intuitive sense.
Intuition isn’t something just certain people can use, we all have it, only after time and because of society we forget how to tune in……

image

This is taken from “Forbes” and explains how crucial leaders nowadays also use intuitive thinking, really interesting……

Intuitive thinking is the ability to take what you may sense or perceive to be true and, without knowledge or evidence, appropriately factor it in to the final decision.

Until recently, most leaders could get by with critical and implementation thinking. But in today’s hyper-fast world, conceptual, innovative and intuitive thinking have becoming increasingly important, especially in industries where frenetic change represents the rule rather than the exception.

Ideas to awaken your intuition.

1. Meditation~
It doesn’t have to be anything too deep just a clearing of your mind.
Try laying somewhere warm and comfortable put some calming music on if it helps.
Start by releasing the tense in your body, move each part of body, individually shake them then relax until you are completely still. Realising your mind is still  try to clear your thoughts.

2. Trusting your feelings and listening to your mind, things you are sure of, you’ll use your gut feelings probably quite regularly without realising, so listen and watch and take note of those heighten senses, whether a feeling in your tummy. Or even a sensation in your body and when you need a sixth sense in a different situation try and tap into past experience.

3. Dreams are powerful they are our subconscious communicating so try and listen and decipher intent and tune into deeper senses.

Lastly don’t be afraid to go with what feels right, we only use 10% of our brain capacity so really there is so much more we could use…..

Do you have any interesting intuitive stories to share, I’d love to hear them or just your thoughts on gut feelings ~ for or against?

Thanks

Is sales shopping mania just human instinct?

What a day yesterday I experienced in the brimming, crowded, crazy Trafford centre in Manchester.
Everyone out for a bargain in the infamous boxing day sales here in the UK.

image

It wasn’t a pleasant experience by any means, the shopping centre was impossible to navigate, people barging, elbows, knocked into, and this wasn’t even in a shop yet…..

You literally had to be on full alert just for a shopping experience…….

Aggression out of control!

Seeing two young women actually fight over a pair of shoes in “Next” really was  incredible.
A boy was sitting on them while a women tried to pull them from under him and with that an altercation exploded between the adults, scary stuff!!!
All this aggression must of been coming from somewhere, how can we behave in such a barbaric way.

Psychologist do compare this kind of behave to that of our ancestors millions of years ago. The hunter, gatherer instinct taking over our usual civilised way of life.

The need to stock pile!

The consumer expert and author of “consumerology”  ~Phililip Graves
   >>>>  http://bit.ly/1wt10co
explains we have despite us thinking the opposite, the need to be better, just as cavemen competed for leader of the pack by stock piling, we think we must have something when actually we don’t, merely to be superior but in so many ways for the wrong reasons….

image

It has been noted by scientists too that chemicals are released when shopping called dopamine, which enchaces mood. Fight or flight instinct is heighten, and once we see someone getting a bargain we think we should have the same.

image

So next time I’m shopping in the sales I won’t be as surprised by the reaction of others but I will try and stop my behaviour becoming barbaric because I don’t need to stock pile.
I have more than enough clothes at least to last me a lifetime……

Do you have any sales shopping experiences to share?
