Its been a fantastic weekend of the reenactment of the English Civil War here in Newark on Trent UK.
Newark was besieged three times during the civil war from 1642 to 1646 Newark was a royalist stronghold, however King Charles did surrender to the parliamentary army in Newark in 1646…
Below is a link to give you the full history >>>>>>>
I have felt proud to live in such a historical town and the sealed knot society have made the weekend surreal.
It all coincides with the opening of Newark civil war museum, link again below for more information. >>>>>
Here is a sample of some of the pictures I told just to give you an idea of the atmosphere….
I really haven’t had time today to take any pictures, so I’m kind of cheating…
This is a picture from a few years ago, one of my favourite UK coastlines and somewhere I visited just about every Summer as a child.
Scarborough bay, its a typical English seaside resort, with fish and chips and amusements…..
I hope you have all enjoyed my black and white pictures and getting a snap shot of England.
Thank you for the challenge https://dizzylizzie72.wordpress.com
Really enjoyed it.
One of the main roads on the way out of town, here in Newark UK, suburbs, tree filled roads. Love this shot of the huge horse chestnut tree over looking the road.
There is a small park just ahead on the right.
Its been a dreary on and off rainy day unfortunately again, hopefully tomorrow will be brighter……
It has been a beautiful day today the sun has been out, cold but bright.
I was hoping to get out and about to get a few pictures but unfortunately I had many other things to do.
I visited my patents which was difficult, my mum was in a peculiar mood, the people she imagines in her mind, are visiting her home, every time she leaves, so yes you guessed it she’s refusing to go anywhere. Alzheimer’s is a dreadful disease……
Anyway on a lighter note in a traffic jam earlier, while being my daughters taxi to a sleepover at her friends, I got this shot of a magnificent building called ‘The Ossington’ on the main High Street through our town.
Hope you like it it is apparently haunted by the founder Viscountess Ossington
Its an intriguing story have a read of the link below to found out more >>>>>
Its still raining unfortunately so my second picture through the car windscreen this time on the way home from work.
The Mary Magdalene Parish Church again here in my home town of Newark in the UK.
I haven’t really given it credit but do hope for better weather over the Easter weekend.
I would like to ask a fellow blogger to join the challenge if you’d rather not that’s perfectly fine, it just a bit of fun.
I’d like to ask >>>>>>
to join in.
I’m really not brilliant at photography but I love capturing any image, so thank you Lizzie >>>>>
for the challenge of posting a black and white picture of my choice for 5 days.
I pulled up on the way to the gym and took this of our castle here in Newark. I will get a better picture later in the week.
I live in the historic market town of Newark on Trent.
It is seeped in history especially from the English Civil War with ‘King John’ apparently taking ill in the castle.
Newark was a strong hold for the Cavaliers, against the Roundheads of ‘Oliver Cromwell’
Anyway hope you all like my snap shot it was raining, very dreary here at the moment in the UK.
